March 13, 2020 at 10:00 am in the SI “National museum of Tajikistan” in accordance with paragraph No.6 of the action event “Social movement of the national unity and the revival of Tajikistan”, as well as decrees and instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the nation, and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His excellency Emomali Rahmon, in honor of the 5500th anniversary of ancient Sarazm, a round table was held on the theme of “Sarazm is the highest example of Tajik urban development”.
Sarazm is a monument of the eneolithic and the beginning of the bronze age in Varorud, refers to the middle of the 4th millennium and the beginning of the 3rd millennium BC. Given the importance of the ancient settlement of Sarazm, by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 391 of September 21, 2000, Sarazm as a center for the development of agriculture, crafts and urban development of the ancestors of the Tajiks was declared a historical and archaeological reserve.
It is a great honor for us that Sarazm, as the first monument of the Tajik historical heritage, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List on July 21, 2010. This round table was attended by scientists and researchers from the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Academy of sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, the National museum of Tajikistan, the National university of Tajikistan and others. Participants made reports on different sides of the unique monument “Ancient Sarazm” of the eneolithic and bronze age of Tajikistan.
In the round table, scientists discussed these problems:
1. Sarazm - a unique monument of the eneolithic and bronze age;
2. Sarazm - the highest example of urban culture of antiquity;
3. The formation of urban culture and the municipality of Tajiks;
4. Ancient cities;
5. The medieval city of Tajiks.
